Rebecca
Just after my 30th birthday last year I began a new journey – partly due to life’s circumstance and partly due to the little girl inside of me who was pleading with me to stop settling!
I was provided with an opportunity at absolutely the most perfect time in my life – a discounted ticket to a 4 day seminar/workshop called Unleash the Power Within hosted by none other than Tony Robbins! I’m telling you straight from my heart to yours, when opportunity knocks – ANSWER! I was empowered at a time when I very well could have assumed the fetal position, thumb sucking and all.
I have always been a passionate person – my friends & family are always entertained with my latest idea/vision/dream but so far I have yet to make my passion “work” for me… or perhaps that should be the other way around… I have yet to work my passion.
I have been a Physiotherapist Assistant for 10+ years and a Personal Trainer for almost 2 years. I enjoy what I do (I have, and have had, the BEST clients a trainer could hope for) but something is missing and if there is one thing I have learned so far during this new decade of my life it is to stop settling… listen to the little girl inside who dreams big dreams (and believes in them) and go for it! My entrepreneurial spirit is awake!

I am not a designer. I have no formal training in the world of interior design or anything related. When I look at white, I see white and I don’t get how you can mix patterns and make it work. Power tools both scare me & excite me (I can always see the potential in things & power tools = potential), I did get a 97% in high school drafting class but I’m fairly certain all the girls got 97%.
BUT…..
Despite my lack of formal training in decorating & design and little to no training on the power tool circuit – I LOVE it all and I want to soak up as much as I can! Sarah Richardson and Paige Hemmis – those gals have IT and I want IT. I grew up around all this stuff (the tool part anyway), to this day my Dad always has a project on the go. He built one of the homes we lived in and used his cheap labour… I mean his 4 kids… as much as possible. So while he ended up with a few extra holes to fill in the drywall, I ended up with a deep rooted passion to build something from nothing and make the old look new again (hmmm… perhaps he taught us a little more than he realized!).
My Mom may be a little more help on the making the entrepreneurial dream come true part. After years of doing what she had to do to feed and clothe 4 kids, she finally took a chance and opened her own home decor store! Seeing the hard work that went into launching her own business has only fueled this fire within. Every time she has a good holiday season, opens a new section or sees a raving fan (customer) while we are out, a wave of pride washes over me and I know I am following in the right footsteps. And did you catch what I wrote up there? She owns a home decor store – my stars are aligned!
In all seriousness (just this one time), while PinkWorkBoots is about renovating, redecorating and hopefully one day flipping homes, it is also about my life. Over the past year I have opened the door to new experiences that I look forward to sharing with you, people I look forward to introducing you to including my Mom & Dad, my brothers & sisters & nephews, my amazing & inspiring boyfriend and some of the kindest and MOST beautiful friends a person could hope for – all people who have made more of a difference in my life than they could ever know. Last but not least you will meet the love of my life, the apple of my eye, my beautiful dog Morgan.
I look forward to working with Vanessa (we have been dreaming this up for a while!) – join me on my journey to renovate a few rooms, a house and who knows what else!
